A media monitoring expert and Chief Insights Consultant at P+ Measurement Services, Philip Odiakose, has stressed the need for media monitoring professionals, desirous of making a big difference in their careers, to always pay attention to details; since it makes a big difference in the accuracy and quality of their works.
Odiakose gave this advice in his piece titled, ‘10 Years in Media Monitoring and Intelligence Profession: Lessons Learned’.
The media monitoring expert shares some insights, experiences, and some lessons learnt, working as a media monitoring and intelligence professional, in the past one decade, in the piece; while also attributing his agency’s growth in the terrain, to his ability to effectively imbibe the culture of paying attention to details, and put it to good use.
Odiakose also stressed the need for professionals on the field to keep abreast of developments, especially with the latest changes in the industry ; since the industry is constantly evolving.
The media monitoring expert added that media monitoring consultants must make it a priority to stay informed about new technologies, media platforms, and industry regulations, to enable them effectively provide the most relevant services to their clients.
Odiakose also stressed the importance of effective communication in media monitoring and intelligence, just like in any profession. According to him, practitioners must appreciate the fact that clear and concise communication remain key in their workings with the clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.
“I have learned that clear and concise communication is essential when working with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders. This includes not only verbal and written communication, but also the ability to listen actively and ask questions when needed.
“Adaptability is also essential. The media landscape is constantly changing, and it is important to be able to adapt to new challenges and situations. Over the past 10 years, I have learned to be flexible and open-minded, to be able to adapt to new technologies, new clients, and new situations. This has helped me to stay relevant and effective in a constantly changing industry,” he stated.
While stressing the need for collaboration among colleagues and other stakeholders, Odiakose calls on professionals to build strong relationships and partnerships with others to enable them achieve common goals.
Such partnerships, he added, include working with clients, vendors, and other industry professionals to provide the best possible service.
Just like in other professions, the P+Measurement Services boss believes media monitoring also needs technology to enable it provide more accurate, efficient, and effective services to their clients.
