In the Plateau state governorship election held on March 18, Patrick Dakum, the candidate of the Labour party, has gracefully accepted defeat and extended his congratulations to Caleb Mutfwang of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who emerged victorious.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially announced the results, which revealed that Mutfwang secured a total of 525,299 votes, defeating his closest contender, Nantawe Yilwatda of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who obtained 481,370 votes.

However, Dakum came in a distant third with a mere 60,310 votes. The peaceful and transparent conduct of the election has been widely acknowledged, and the outcome has been widely accepted by the candidates and their supporters.
In his call to Mutwang, Dakum wished him well as the next governor of the state.
‘’I have just called Caleb Mutfwang to congratulate him as elected Governor of Plateau State and pray Gods guidance for him. May Plateau be the beneficiary of God’s blessings in the days ahead. The Labour Party will continue work for a better Plateau.”
