The leadership of the Coalition of Civil Society Groups on Tuesday said that there was no mass protest planned by the Coalition against the Central Bank of Nigeria and its Governor Mr Godwin Emefiele as being speculated in some quarters.

The President of the Coalition, Comrade Olakunle Oladimeji Olatunji who made the clarification in Abuja shortly after he was sworn in said, “At this juncture, it is important to state categorically that the Coalition of Civil Society Groups did not plan any protest against the CBN Governor or the CBN because there was no reason to organize such protest.

According to him, “However where any such blackmailing or extortionist plans to protest against the CBN exits, it is hereby called off and members of the public are urged to disregard any such plan for any purported protest.”

This came just as the Coalition rallied for total support for the new administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and urged Nigerians to be patient with the new administration, expressing absolute confidence in its ability to fix Nigeria based on the track records of the new President.

According to Comrade Olatunji, “The Coalition congratulate our new President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Vice, Senator Kashim Shettima and we are appealing to Nigerians to be patient with the new administration to allow it to fix the country for the benefit of all and sundry”

Speaking on the activities of the immediate past President of the Coalition, Mr Etuk Bassey Williams, Comrade Olatunji said that the Coalition had suspended him from office over alleged, gross misconduct, and blackmailing of government officers amongst others.
