Benue State Government has dismissed the report of the existence of a private security outfit in the state.
The Deputy Governor of Benue State, Sam Ode, made the statement during a press conference held in Makurdi on Saturday.

He clarified that the present administration has no intention of collaborating with any unknown security outfit that is purportedly working with the government to facilitate the return of displaced persons to their ancestral homes.
“This declaration is coming against the backlash from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the purported launch of a security outfit known as Al-Tershak Global Security Ltd,” Ode explained.
He further addressed the claims made by the PDP, stating, “Let me say categorically that no Fulani outfit in Benue State, at no time in the period under review, did this government authorize the establishment of such a security outfit called Al-Tershak Global Security Ltd, and neither did I authorize any group or individual to represent me at such an event.”
The Deputy Governor described the alleged launch of the security outfit by the present administration as false and baseless, accusing the PDP of fabricating the story to discredit the government of Rev Father Hyacinth Alia.
“As a government, we are calling on the good people of Benue State, including the media, to ignore this PDP rumour calculated to drag the administration of Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia into controversy,” Ode emphasized.
He reiterated that the present government has no intention of collaborating with any security outfit in the state. Instead, they are focused on addressing the security issues in the state, including the resettlement of displaced persons back to their ancestral homes.
“The welfare of workers, resettlement of displaced persons back to their ancestral homes, among others, are at the forefront of the present administration’s priorities,” the Deputy Governor concluded.
