The Nigeria Police, Lagos State Command, have arrested two suspected armed robbers, who were identified by one of their victims while watching the final of the just concluded African Cup of Nations (AFCON) between Nigeria and Ivory Coast in Lagos State.
The suspects were identified as Frank Ikechukwu and Anayo Chibundu and they had last weekend gone to a bar in Ibeju Lekki ,when they were arrested.
The victim (names withheld) reportedly sneaked out of the bar and reported to the police at Elemoro police station.
The spokesperson in charge of the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, while confirming the arrest of the suspects to the Tribune Online said that they have been identified as the culprits behind some of the criminal acts around Elemoro .
Hundeyin also said that six other victims of the criminal activities by the arrested suspects have also identified them .
Hundeyin said, “She (the victim) reported that while she was watching a football match, she saw two suspects at a bar in Ibeju Lekki, who had allegedly robbed her of property on Jan. 22.
“The victim said items stolen from her include: Samsung S10 valued at N315,000, N500,000 cash, her GTB ATM Card, First Bank ATM Card and power bank.
“All the victims affected have equally reported different cases against them. About six victims also positively identified the suspects.”
The Lagos police PRO also stated that “Search was conducted in their houses, where dangerous weapons were found. All victims confirmed that the weapons, including cutlasses, were used on them by the suspects.”
Two vehicles with the Reg. Nos. Honda Accord- JJJ 232 JH and Toyota Camry – APP 870JD were recovered from the arrested suspects .
