

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 15 members of the notorious Shilla cult group in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area of the state.
The group has been terrorising residents of the area for a while now, with the police on their trail.

Luck ran out for them in the early hours of today, Wednesday, when officers of the Jimeta division in Yola North, alongside vigilante men, apprehended them in the Rumde area.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesman, SP Suleman Yahaya Ngoreje, made available to the Tribune online, “Our personnel engaged the notorious group while they were operating with dangerous weapons, robbing innocent people who were out for their prayers and keeping fit exercise of their belongings.”
The statement added that fifteen (15) out of the many suspected criminals were arrested with dangerous weapons.
Items recovered include four sharp daggers, three knives, two handsets, the sum of nineteen thousand naira (N19,000), and some quantity of hard drugs, amongst others.
Those arrested are Adamu Abdullahi, 17 years old; Hassan Mohammed, 18; Abdullahi Yusuf, 18; Abdulrazak Abubakar, 19; Ibrahim Umar, 19; Mohammed Zakaria, 14; Mohammed Auwal, 16; and Kabiru Abdullahi, 20.
Others are Auwal Adamu, 15; Aminu Adamu, 13; Abdulraham Umar, 16; Amir Mohammed, 15; Anas A. Rufai, 20; Usman Tijjani, 15; and Mohammed Abubakar, 17.
SP Nguroje added that the suspects will be diligently prosecuted upon completion of investigations.
