Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago has said that the state government will renovate and equip all government schools as well as primary healthcare centres across the state for effective and efficient service delivery.
The Governor disclosed this at a dinner organised in his honour in Kontagora by the Critical Stakeholders Forum, an association of political appointees, career management staff and heads of MDAs from the Kontagora local government area of the state.
Governor Bago said a lot of gaps have been identified in the education sector and much would be done to revamp it, explaining that he has directed the stoppage of building new government schools and primary healthcare centres to put the existing structures in good shape.
He disclosed that his administration has attracted a lot of investments to the state, especially on infrastructure and agriculture where a million hectares of land have already been identified for cultivation.
The Governor who acknowledged the support of the Kontagora Emirate Council in his developmental strides, called on all stakeholders to work collectively as a team for the overall development of the state and ensure that the yearnings and aspirations of the people are met.
Senator representing Niger North Senatorial District in the National Assembly,Abuja and former Niger State Governor, Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, House of Representatives member for Kontagora/Mariga/Mashegu/Wushishi Federal Constituency, Hon. Abdullahi Idris Garba and his counterpart representing Magama/Rijau Federal Constituency, Hon. Shehu Sale Slow took turns to give accolades to the governor for his remarkable achievements so far in governing the state.
Others who also spoke highly of the Governor for his doggedness and zeal to transform the state for the better included the Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. AbdulMalik Sarkin Daji, Kontagora Council Chairman, Shehu Pawa, Commissioner for Finance, Lawal Adamu Maikano, the former Minister of Commerce, Engnr. Mustapha Bello, APC North Central Vice Chairman, Alhaji Mu’azu Bawa Rijau and the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora represented by Galadiman Kontagora, Alhaji Shehu Yusuf Galadima.
