In Isokan Local Government Area, a contentious incident unfolded involving the local government chairman and a community development initiative. Hon. Adeniran Lateef MAO, the chairman of Isokan LG, attempted to halt the road grading activities led by Balogun Bola Oyebamiji. The reason for the intervention was the presence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party flag on the grader machine used for the project.

The chairman’s actions were seen by some as an attempt to obstruct the positive work being done in the community. Sources indicate that Hon. Adeniran Lateef insisted the road grading could only proceed if the APC flag was removed from the machinery. This demand, however, did not align with the views of the local police.
In response to the chairman’s request, the police reportedly maintained a stance of professional neutrality. They advised that any individual or group has the fundamental right to assist the community, regardless of the political insignia on their tools or equipment. The police emphasized that others are also free to conduct similar community service projects and use any stickers or flags on their equipment as they see fit.
This stance by the police highlights a commitment to upholding the rights of community members to contribute positively without political interference. Despite the chairman’s efforts, the grading work was set to continue under the conditions advised by the police, ensuring that the development work aimed at benefiting the Isokan community could proceed unhindered.
