A truckload of fertiliser enroute to Demsa local government area have been looted by some miscreants in the area.
An eye witness on Friday told Tribune Online that the track loaded with fertiliser was looted close to the palace of the paramount ruler in Demsa when the truck had an accident and fell in a ditch.
The track filled with 600 bags of fertilisers of various brand was part of the efforts by Adamawa state government to alleviate the plight of its citizens and help boost their farm yield this year.
The Council Chairman, Hon Akam Sanda Jallo, confirmed the looting of the fertiliser meant for his local government council blamed the vendor for not informing him of their journey to convey the fertiliser to the Palace of Hama Batta for delivery and safekeep.
He said “the vendor who saddled with the transportation of the fertiliser from Yola would have waited to get go-ahead instructions from me before bringing the fertilizer to Demsa.”
He, however, said they have a prime suspect who was engineering the boys to loot the fertilizer meant to be shared with local farmers for the rainy season have been identified.
Akam denied the rumor that the looters were Youth for the #endbadgovernance protesters, stressing that ” it some miscreants that looted the truck at Palace of Hama Bata”
But he refused to name the prime suspect, who was the mastermind of the looting.
Confirming the incident, the Adamawa state police command public relations officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje said the command is doing everything possible to arrest those involved in the looting.
“The looters are not those protesting over bad governace in the state, he added the #endbadgovernmance in Adamawa state have been very peaceful.”
