Social media users have continued to express mixed reactions over a video of Nigerian singer and songwriter, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, bowing to greet the convener of New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declaration (NSPPD), Pastor Jerry Eze.
On Thursday, 22nd August, D’banj paid a courtesy visit to Pastor Eze at his residence to celebrate the pastor’s 42nd birthday.
Following the visit, the ‘Koko Master’, as he is fondly called, took to his verified Instagram account to share a video of his meeting with the clergyman.
Captioning the video, the singer wrote, “Happy Birthday to my Papa, @realjerryeze It was an honor to surprise you in Abuja today and even on your special day you still took out time to bless us. Your relentless faith and passion for God continues to inspire us all. May God’s grace and favor overflow in your life this new year. Thank you for being a blessing to so many. I must Greet you specially.”
The video, however, has continued to spark controversy online, with netizens reacting differently to the music artist’s gestures towards the pastor.
While some described it as an act of humility from the singer, others criticised him for bowing to greet the pastor, arguing that he should not have done so since he is 44 years and two years older than the pastor.
Taking to the post’s comment section to praise the singer over the gesture, an Instagram user, @niffy signature comments “Your humility amongst other things is top-notch and second to none, God bless you bro.”
Another user, @Kunlegaga wrote, “Is the humility for me … ORI ADE YAYS YE @iambangalee I must greet you too special iNE you’re a star.”
