Ondo Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has tasked Corps members deployed to Ondo to brace up for the challenges ahead of them.

He equally challenged them to positively impact their host communities to ensure a secured future for the coming generations.

Governor Aiyedatiwa threw the challenge in his address read during the Swearing in Ceremony for the 2024 Batch ‘B’ (Stream II) corps members deployed to Ondo State.

The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Honourable Saka Yusuf Ogunleye, said that their deployment coincided with the period when questions and concerns were being raised on the development and future of the youths.

According to him, the period was a time of sober reflection on the evolution of the country and admonished them to serve as catalysts for the much-needed national rebirth and reconstruction.

“I, therefore, enjoin you to rededicate yourselves and brace up for the tasks ahead as you will be exposed to the daunting, arduous, but fulfilling challenges of our national development,” he counselled.

The Governor, while congratulating them for successfully completing their various courses of study which qualified them for mobilisation and subsequent deployment into the NYSC programme, admonished them to cooperate with camp officials so that they would have an enjoyable orientation course.

Aiyedatiwa allayed their fears on security situation in the state, saying that his administration would cater for their security and welfare during the service year, with a promise that the Government will continue to support the National Youth Service Corps at all times.

In his welcome remarks, the NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mr Sam Amaramiro Pepple disclosed that the orientation course has been strategically crafted to instill in corps members lofty ideals of discipline, team spirit, tolerance, perseverance, and leadership skills.

The State Coordinator, therefore, urged the new inductees into NYSC family to make themselves amenable to training by listening to instructions and obeying all camp rules and regulations.

Pepple, who hinted that the orientation course that they are currently undergoing is the first of the cardinal programmes of the National Youth Service Corps, disclosed that the Scheme has a flagship programme known as Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), and enjoined them to embrace and participate actively in it.

The Coordinator announced that at the close of registration, a total of 1,682 patriotic, loyal, qualified, and ready-to-serve Nigerian graduate youths comprising 843 males and 839 females were registered for the compulsory national service in Ondo State.

The Chief Judge of Ondo, Honourable Justice Olusegun Ayedun Odusola who was represented by Hon. Justice Ademola Enikuomehin administered the Oath of Allegiance on the registered corps members, with a call to them to constitutionally pursue grievances and properly channel such for redress in a disciplined and self-reliant manner.
