

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Benedict Akika, has regained freedom six days after his abduction by suspected gunmen.
Tribune Online reports that Akika, founder of the Omituntun Benedict Foundation, was abducted from his Ibadan residence in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.

After spending six days in his abductors’ den, Akika regained his freedom Wednesday night.
However, Tribune Online cannot confirm if a ransom was paid to secure his release at the time of filing this report, as details surrounding the circumstances of his release are still sketchy.
Following his release, our correspondent learnt that Akika had been taken for a medical examination and necessary attention.
