The new Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Youth Ambassador, Dr Tayo Adebisi, has urged West African leaders to boost trade within the region and enhance economic development in order to achieve a full restoration of peace and stability.

Adebisi maintained that it is essential to maintain peace, promote stability and achieve economic development in the West African region.

He emphasised the need for leaders of the ECOWAS countries to develop a blueprint for youth development, adding that restoration of peace is paramount in the country and West Africa in general.

According to him, the government should put into consideration short, medium and long-term solutions to insecurity in the country.

Adebisi, who is also the Chief Executive Officer, Green Atlas Holdings, made the call in a chat with journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

He noted that the most important aspect for the restoration of peace in Nigeria and West Africa is the creation of a blueprint for youth development and empowerment.

He said: “There is an urgent need for leaders of ECOWAS countries to develop a blueprint for youth development. To achieve a full restoration of peace, the government must boost trade within the region and enhance economic development’.”

This is just as he has been appointed as the ECOWAS Youth Ambassador by the West African Youth Council (WAYC).

The award is given to young Nigerians to promote peace and sustainable development in West Africa.

The honour was conferred on the real estate expert during the induction ceremony held in Ibadan.

WAYC President, Ambassador Emmanuel S William, stated that Adenbisi’s nomination is borne out of his contributions to community development and social services that have bettered the lives of less privileged ones in the society.

He added that the ambassadors were selected by WAYC in a bid to contribute to the actualisation of the dreams of young leaders in Africa.

“We write you on behalf of the West Africa Youth Council (WAYC) and our partners across the continent to congratulate you on your accomplishments so far as a dedicated and inspiring youth leader and above all a leader with passion for youth and societal development.

“As young leaders, we are proud of you as a committed and dedicated youth leader. We celebrate your excellence in leadership and integrity you have built over time, identifying opportunities and building relationships to set achievable goals.

“In a bid to contribute our quota to the actualisation of the dreams of young leaders in Africa and to further propagate our message to the entire world, we select young achievers such as yourself and elevate their status globally by appointing them into the West Africa Youth Council of the ECOWAS and also celebrate and award them,” he noted.
