The Federal Lawmaker representing the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Idu Igariway, has called on the Transmission Commission of Nigeria (TCN) to address the power issues in Ebonyi South or complete the contract for the American sub-transmission subscription.
The lawmaker, who is in his third term, disclosed this at the weekend while celebrating the achievements of the State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, and the 28th anniversary of Ebonyi State.
According to him, the people of Ebonyi South have suffered power challenges for a long time and urged TCN to put their house in order and energize the zone.
He, however, commended Gov. Nwifuru for the bridges and other road infrastructure he has completed, as well as those ongoing in his constituency.
His words: “Me celebrating in my state is a testament to how I feel for my state. Everyone is commending what the governor is doing in Ebonyi State. This government, as they say, has a human face. It is a government where citizens are at peace with the democracy they are enjoying in the 13 LGAs of the state. We shall continue to support him.

“As a developing constituency, we cannot have enough infrastructure. The little effort that I am making, the modest effort that I am making, still leaves a lot of room for more to come, both from the state and the federal government. We are still challenged in a whole lot of sectors, like power. We need to get it right, even though it is not solely the problem of the state; it is also a federal issue.
“It is a transmission problem, so we expect the Transmission Commission of Nigeria (TCN) to put their house in order by energizing or completing the contract for the Amasiri sub-transmission subscription. That is the core of the power challenges in the entire Ebonyi South, not just in a particular local government.
“The moment we have the infrastructure up and running, like the Transmission Commission of Nigeria, which is a federal government agency, the power situation in the South will be a thing of the past. Every other thing the governor is doing, by way of roads in Afikpo and its environs, includes the construction of many bridges, and the governor has donated a lot of transformers.”
