The Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has said Nigeria spends N1bn monthly on energy in each of the airports.
Keyamo disclosed this during an interview on Channels Television’s *Political Paradigm, on Tuesday, 8th October, 2024.
This staggering expenditure highlights the significant financial burden associated with maintaining airport operations across the country.
Keyamo emphasised the need for a more sustainable and efficient energy solution to alleviate the rising costs that have become a critical challenge for the aviation sector.

“Our airports are heavily reliant on energy, and the current expenditure is unsustainable. We must explore alternative energy sources to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency,” he stated.
“We are looking into renewable energy solutions, solar power that can provide reliable power to our airports.
