Former House of Reps Member Kabiru, representing Talata Mafara/ Anka Federal constituency in Zamfara, Yahaya Classic alongside 10 ward chairmen, have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.
Classic announced his defection on Thursday evening after meeting with the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, and Chairman Senator Abdulaziz Yari Political Organization, Alhaji Lawal M Liman, and other APC stakeholders.
Hon. Kabiru Yahaya Classic represented Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency between 2019 and 2023 under the umbrella of the PDP, left barely few weeks after a serving member representing Gummi/Bukkuyum Hon. Abubakar Gummi also joined APC.
Hon Yahaya defected along with the PDP structure in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, including the PDP LG Executives And 10 out of 11 PDP Ward Chairmen in Talata Mafara LGA.
The former lawmaker said he defected from the PDP because there is no justice and fairness in the Zamfara PDP chapter, and that is why he decided to leave the party.
“I, Kabiru Yahaya Classic, Today, Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, wish to announce my defection from the PDP to the Progressive Party, the APC.
“I am defecting with All PDP structure in Talata Mafara Local Government Area including the Local Government EXCO of the PDP and the 10 out of 11 Ward Chairmen of the PDP, APC is a great party with justice and fairness,” he stated.
Receiving the Lawmaker, the State APC Chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani, described Hon. Classic’s defection as a welcome development for the APC.
“We assured the Classic and all the defectors fair treatment in APC, adding that the APC has a great structure with good internal democracy,” Danfulani explained.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Sen Yari’s Political Organization, Alhaji Lawal M Liman, commended Kabiru Classic and other defectors for joining the progressive team.
Liman described the APC as the only party with manifesto to move Zamfara and Nigeria forward.
The Important personalities that attended the occasion included Former Speaker Zamfara State Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, Zonal Coordinator Senator Abdulaziz Yari Constituency Office, Alhaji Sha’aya Sarkin-Fawa Talata Mafara, former SSG, Commissioners among others.
