Officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested a suspected vote buyer in the Ondo governorship election.
Channels reported that the suspect was captured with two bags of money which are suspected to be for the inducement of voters in the election.
He was arrested at Ward 4, Polling Unit 007 outside St. Stephen’s Primary School, Akure, Ondo State around 9 am on election day.
Tribune Online earlier reported that Police are set to deploy drones for surveillance during the Ondo State governorship election slated for Saturday, November 16, 2024.
Security operatives also expressed readiness to partner with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the off-cycle election.
A total number of 43,157 security personnel have been deployed for the election.
Of the number, police would deploy about 34,657 personnel to polling units, wards/LGA collation centres plus other strategic locations.
It is expected that four police personnel would man each polling unit.
Tribune Online also reported security beefed up at the state headquarters of INEC in Akure, the state capital.
