Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting persons with disabilities in the state, enabling them to contribute their quota to nation-building.
The governor made this statement on Monday when he received members of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Bauchi State chapter, at the Government House during the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, Bala Mohammed reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to improving the welfare of persons with disabilities.
He stated that the government would continue to support their activities, involve them in various initiatives for sustained development, and carefully consider their requests.
The leader of the delegation, Abdullahi Ibrahim, explained that the commemoration aimed to galvanize support for persons with disabilities and chart a better future for their welfare and well-being.

He urged the governor to revisit the state disability law to further accommodate persons with disabilities and emphasized the need to prioritize free education and promote inclusive leadership opportunities at all levels.
The celebration underscores the importance of empowering persons with disabilities and fostering an environment of equality and inclusivity.
Also speaking, the State Chairman, Iliya Ismail, called on the government to enhance access to education and ensure the active participation of persons with disabilities in leadership roles.
He highlighted the need for collective efforts to build a society where everyone, regardless of ability, has equal access to opportunities for growth and development.
The theme for this year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities is “Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future.”
