Former Democratic Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, has been hospitalized following an injury during an official visit to Luxembourg.
According to information from her office, the 84-year-old Pelosi was in Europe with a bipartisan congressional delegation to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, a pivotal moment in World War II history.
Ian Krager, Pelosi’s spokesperson, stated that she is “currently receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals” and will be unable to attend the remaining events on the delegation’s itinerary. He added that Pelosi “looks forward to returning home to the US soon.”

Although Krager did not provide details of the injury, the Associated Press, citing an anonymous source familiar with the incident, reported that Pelosi tripped and fell during a congressional event. The source, not authorised to speak publicly, declined to elaborate further.
Representative Michael McCaul, who is part of the delegation, extended his well wishes, expressing disappointment that Pelosi would miss the weekend’s planned events.
“I’m praying for a speedy recovery,” McCaul posted on X, alongside a photo of him holding hands with Pelosi at the US Embassy in Luxembourg. “But she is strong, and I am confident she will be back on her feet in no time.”
Pelosi’s injury comes amid ongoing public appearances, including a recent event at the Kennedy Centre Honours and the Senate swearing-in ceremonies of her former colleagues Adam Schiff and Andy Kim earlier this week.
Elected to Congress in 1987, Pelosi served twice as Speaker before stepping down from leadership in 2022. She continues to represent her San Francisco district actively.
