National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) has challenged Corps members across the country to always leave their host communities better than they met them through impactful community development projects.

The Director-General of NYSC, Brig:-Gen Yushau Ahmed, stated this in Bauchi on Tuesday, during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream I Orientation exercise at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Wailo in Ganjuwa LGA.

Represented by Mrs Rifkatu Yakubu, the Bauchi state Coordinator of NYSC, the DG also urged all the Corps members to do their best in obeying the rules governing their host communities and learn to appreciate their customs and culture.

Yushau Ahmed further commended the patriotism, loyalty, patience, perseverance, understanding, and good conduct of the corps members during the three-week orientation course.

According to him, “By their show of maturity, discipline and tolerance, I am convinced that our three-week stay on camp has not been in vain and that they will impact maximally on their host communities during the service year.”

“As you embark on the second phase of the service year, I enjoin you to continue to be obedient, loyal, and diligent. Endeavour to settle down quickly when you get to your places of primary assignment and adapt to the ways of life there.

“The people of Bauchi state, as you have been told many times, are hospitable. The glaring proof as you can see is the buses sent by Local Councils to convey you to your places of primary assignment.

“I implore you to reciprocate this good gesture by contributing your best to the upliftment of your host communities and Bauchi State in general,” he added.

The NYSC boss appreciated the state government for providing a conducive atmosphere and security for both Corps members and officials while on camp.

He also lauded the State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development for their support at all times.

At the end of the camp, 1100 Corps were registered out of the 1600 officially posted to the State.
