A non-governmental organization, FOODTODEY in collaboration with Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze has launched an initiative aimed at giving succour to the less privileged in the society.
The initiative tagged “Ukodo Na Tėvwė”,
according to a statement issued by the National President of FOOSTODEY, Mr. Elvis Ahioron Saturday, is aimed at providing a monthly supportive stipend of N20,000 to 200 indigent and vulnerable households in Oginibo community of Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to Ahior, “the initiative is a way of spreading the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the “UKODO” himself, to our rural dwellers in a very realistic way.
“This is very imperative especially during this yuletide season where as true Christians, we are expected to spread joy and love across our neighbours and humanity at large.”
Speaking further, International Facilitator/Co-ordinator of the NGO, Comrade Reuben Izeze a lawyer, said the Initiative was meant to support the vision of Governor Oborevwori particularly as it affects the indigent and vulnerable in the society.
“Governor Oborevwori has constantly doled out social welfare packages for women, widows, elderly, youths and students with over 200,000 Deltans and residents benefiting from different supportive grants.
“Also, the *Ukodo Na Tėvwė Initiative* is aimed at supporting the cashless policy of the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, hence our decision to assist in ensuring that all the beneficiaries have functional bank accounts.
Furthermore, Comrade Izeze said “*Ukodo Na Tėvwė,* is an initiative driven by his irrevocable conviction that, all appointees of the Oborevwori administration owe it a duty to spread the Ukodo round our rural/grassroots people.”
In a related development, Comrade Izeze has donated the sum of N2 million to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Executive Committee in Ughelli South Local Government Area for Christmas celebration.
According to him, the gesture is aimed at supporting the executive committee and fostering unity within the party as they celebrate Christmas and preparation for the upcoming year.
Izeze emphasized the importance of appreciating the party’s leadership and grassroots structures, particularly during the festive season.
“This token is my way of thanking the Ughelli South PDP Exco for their tireless dedication to the party’s progress. As we celebrate Christmas, let us also reflect on the values of unity, service, and collective responsibility,” Izeze stated.
The donation was met with gratitude by members of the executive committee, who described the move as a thoughtful and motivating gesture.
Chairman Ughelli South PDP, Chief Edirin Ojigho, lauded Izeze for his continued support and urged other stakeholders to emulate his example.
Comrade Izeze’s contribution is seen as a testament to his commitment to strengthening the party’s structures at the grassroots level and promoting a culture of inclusivity and generosity within the PDP.
As the festive season continues, this act of kindness has not only brightened the mood within the party but also reaffirmed the bond between leaders and the people they serve.
