In a precautionary move ahead of the festive season, several major United Kingdom (UK), stores, including Tesco, Aldi, and Morrisons, have issued urgent product recall warnings.
According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), these recalls are prompted by safety concerns ranging from mislabelling to the potential presence of harmful substances.
The FSA, responsible for overseeing food safety standards in the UK, mandates recalls for reasons such as undeclared allergens or contamination with foreign objects.
Affected consumers are advised to return these products to the store for a full refund, with no receipt required.
The products recalled are:
Cheese Products (Dunnes)
Dunnes Stores has recalled several cheese products due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes. The affected items, manufactured by Wicklow Farmhouse Cheese in the Republic of Ireland, are sold in Northern Ireland.
The FSA warned that listeria infections can cause flu-like symptoms and, in severe cases, lead to complications such as meningitis.
Vulnerable groups, including the elderly, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems, are particularly at risk. Consumers are advised not to consume these products and to return them for a refund.
Beef Slices (Tesco)
Tesco is recalling its 10 Cooked Beef Slices (125g, use-by date: 24 January 2025) due to a labelling error that could make the product unsafe to eat. Customers should return the product to any Tesco store for a refund.
Additionally, the supermarket has extended its recall of the Tesco Red Cabbage and Apple 300G, citing an incorrect use-by date of 29 December instead of 11 December. The FSA noted that consuming this item past its correct shelf life poses health risks.
Crushed Garlic (Morrisons)
Morrisons has pulled its Crushed Garlic 75g (best before: 19 October 2025) from shelves after discovering an ingredient omission that could lead to microbiological growth. Customers are urged not to consume the product and to return it to the nearest store for a refund.
Vegetable Bao Buns (Aidi)
Aldi is recalling its Let’s Party Vegetable Bao Buns due to undeclared sesame and duck meat not listed on the packaging. The presence of sesame poses a risk to individuals with allergies, while the unlisted duck meat may concern other consumers.
Aldi has contacted allergy support organisations to inform affected individuals and is offering full refunds to customers who return the product.
ZOE’s Daily 30+ Supplement (Waitrose)
Waitrose has issued an alert for ZOE’s Daily 30+ 7 Day, a dietary supplement designed to boost immunity, after discovering small stones and pieces of metal in the product.
The FSA has deemed it unsafe for consumption and advises customers to return the product for a refund.
