Pensioners in Kwara State, under the aegis of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), have requested a personal audience with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for closer interaction regarding their welfare demands.
In a statement jointly signed by the union’s chairman, Alhaji Saidu Oladimeji, and the Secretary, Comrade (Chief) Abraham Jonah Gana JP, the pensioners appealed to the governor to implement the consequential adjustment arising from the new national minimum wage of N70,000, which the Federal Government has used to raise the minimum pension to N32,000 for federal retirees.
The Kwara State pensioners also called on the governor to implement the consequential adjustment resulting from the implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage.
The pensioners requested the implementation of a pension increase in accordance with the circular from the National Salaries and Wages Commission, which indicates increases of 20% and 28% for earners in levels 1–16 and 17, respectively.

Other requests included the release of a substantial amount of money to fund the liquidation of the backlog of gratuities payable to retirees across the board.
The union, which assured Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s administration of its support and cooperation, also prayed for his successful tenure.
“The entire populace of the Kwara State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) sincerely appreciates your great care for all state and local government pensioners in our state of harmony, particularly regarding the regular payment of pensions, palliatives, and other benefits as due. We fervently pray for God’s continued sound health, long life, divine wisdom, and guidance over you and your family.”
