Some Students of the Federal Polytechnic Offa Kwara State who have carryover in their courses have protested and shut down the school gate, asking the school management for waiver.
Eyewitness at the scene on Monday revealed that the students went on rampage throwing pure water at school officials who attempted to address them at the school gate and broke the back windscreen of one of the principal officers’ official car.
Earlier, the students who reside in the hostel at main campus (permanent site ) peacefully protest about the state of their hostels. According to reports, the students earlier locked the permanent site’s gate and task management to provide necessary amenities, it was gathered that the management led by Dr. Olarongbe Afolabi after visiting the hostels addressed the students and ordered immediate action to solve issues raised by the students in the hostels.
It was learnt that the said peaceful protest by ‘hostelites’ was further hijacked by students who had carryover displaying placards at mini campus with the inscription: ” one carryover must be waved” “we are broke, we don’t have school fee” among others. This is said to go against the new academic board decision of the school on the waiver.
The enraged students later took protest to Olofa’s palace.
According to reports, the protest disrupted the activities of the school as staff at mini campus were denied entrance into the school premises throughout the day. Continue Reading
