Members of a leading pro- democracy group in Kwara, the Alliance For Sustainable Kwara (ASK) have hailed Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for gradually turning the state into a model state.

In a statement issued at the end of the monthly meeting of the organization, signed by the secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Olesin, the chairman, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Lawal, said that the governor has not only turned Ilorin, the state capital into a model city, he has also initiated moves to make every part of the state worthy of habitation through ongoing infrastructural projects across communities in all the three senatorial districts in the state.

Lawal, who made reference to the recent flag-off of the construction, rehabilitation and upgrade of rural roads totaling 209.77 kilometers across the three senatorial districts in the state by the governor, said that the effort is a testament to the governor’s desire to bequeath a Kwara that all would be proud of.

The statement also thanked the governor, who is the Sardauna of Ilorin, for his interest in the development of every part of the state.

He also expressed delight about the level of construction works at the Osi (Kwara South) and Baruten (Kwara North) satellite campuses of the Kwara State University, Malete (KWASU).

The former commissioner for Special Duties in the state noted that the two KWASU satellite campuses, when they fully become operational, will create thousands of direct and indirect jobs for the people of the state.

He said the university campuses will also bring out the transformation of the host communities from rural areas to model cities.

Lawal also applauded the establishment of Kwara State University of Education, Ilorin by the governor and the subsequent appointment of a woman, Professor Medinat Salman, as the pioneer acting vice chancellor of the new university.

While assuring the governor of the continued support of members of ASK for his people-centered administration, Lawal urged the governor not to be distracted by the opposition elements who he noted are not interested in the development of the state, but personally aggrandizement.

He said history will be kind to Governor AbdulRazaq for his statesmanship, self-denial, sacrifices, prudent management of the state’s resources, and commitment to the development of the state.
