The Allied Conservative Congress (ACC) has called for judicial reform, raising concerns about the public’s diminishing trust in the judiciary due to conflicting rulings and alleged miscarriages of justice.

The party, which has announced plans to restore Nigeria’s democracy and address pressing national issues, emphasized that its conservative mission offers a new direction for the country.

Speaking at the party’s 4th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, the National Secretary of the ACC, Alhaji Mohammed Lawal, underscored the crucial role of an unbiased judiciary in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.

Lawal praised the recent United States presidential election as a model of electoral integrity and sportsmanship, qualities he urged Nigeria to strive to emulate.

He stated: “The Allied Conservative Congress was born out of Nigerians’ quest for genuine democracy, good governance, rule of law, national security, economic prosperity, equity, and morality in our national life, as obtainable in the First Republic—the golden era of the nation when citizens waved the flag and sang the national anthem with pride.”

Lawal further asserted that the ACC represents a departure from the challenges currently plaguing Nigeria, including corruption, terrorism, and other criminal activities.

He added: “Today, things have fallen apart; the state of the nation is bad. Patriotism, the glue that held the nation together, is lacking in most leaders and citizens.

“There is confusion in governance as the ship of the Nigerian state drifts on its perilous course, buffeted by insecurity and poverty.

“Citizens are overwhelmed by hardship and poor leadership at all levels of government and now desire a change from the illusory progressivism that impedes the nation’s democracy to conservatism, which will foster unity, equity, morality, security, and prosperity.

“It is this clear conservative ideology that inspired, stirred, and spurred eminent Nigerians across the country to come together on the platform of the Allied Conservative Congress to redirect the ship of the nation to the path of rectitude, development, and advancement in tandem with the provisions of Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, which states that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.”

The ACC secretary stressed the importance of conservative leadership as an alternative to the current issues of corruption, poverty, and insecurity, which he said have eroded Nigeria’s moral fabric.

He added, “National interest must always come before partisan politics and personal gain.”

Lawal also called on Nigerians who support democracy, good governance, and national unity to join the ACC in its vision.
