Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has restated commitment towards enhancing the infrastructure, faculty and curriculum of the Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa Oke and other institutions in the state.
While noting that the significance of education in the transformation of societies cannot be overstated, he said that “the demand for quality education continues to rise, and “it is our duty to ensure that our institutions are adequately equipped to meet these demands.”
The visitor to the OSCOTECH made this declaration in his address at the OSCOTECH alumni reunion, held in London last Saturday.
Speaking further, the governor said that he is aware of the challenges that educational institutions are facing in the country today, hence the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in achieving the required sustainable progress in the education sector
According to him, education is a cornerstone upon which progress is built, which institutions like the OSCOTECH is playing a pivotal role in shaping the minds of future talents adding that “the knowledge and skills acquired at the college have transcend borders through its alumni who are now making positive impacts on a global scale.”
The governor, who was represented by the chairman, governing council of the college, Honourable Diran Odeyemi, noted that aside from the fact that OSCOTECH remained a legacy that was left behind by his late brother of blessed memory, Alhaji Isaiaka Adeleke, he believed in continuing the works of those who were before him and taking care of necessary upgrades and maintenance.
“I am also committed to completing unfinished projects in our local government and across the state,” he stressed.
While he expressed gratitude to the OSCOTECH alumni, whom he said had travelled far and wide to grace the occasion as well the organisers of the reunion, he said “your dedication and tireless efforts in bringing us all together, despite the distances that separate us, are commendable.
“Events like this serve as beacons of unity, reminding us of the bonds forged within those hallowed walls of OSCOTECH.”
He said the gathering was meant to celebrate the growth and achievement of the state and the strong bond between the alumni and their alma mater.
He charged old students to reaffirm commitment to the values that define them, which he listed to be integrity, excellence and service to the society, just as he called on other alumni of the college who had excelled in their respective fields to join hands with them in the endeavour.
“Your expertise, networks and resources are invaluable assets that can help elevate our educational system to new heights,” he said.
He also urged them not to just give back financially, but also through mentorship, collaborations and by representing the state and the college’s ideals.
The governor formally declared that he had appointed Hon Diran Odeyemi, a prince from Ibokun, Osun State, as the chairman of the governing council of the institution, saying “he is my representative and will ensure the smooth running of the college.
He pledged to continue to give an unwavering support to OSCOTECH to ensure that it remains a beacon of knowledge, a hub of innovation and source of inspiration for all who pass through its gates.
