The Igbo-Biafra Nationalists, have called on the leaders of the South East region to embrace the IBN proposal to deliver responsible governance or face the consequences.

The convener of IBN, Mazi Uche Mefor, spoke in a statement to newsmen in Owerri on Thursday about the plights of the people of the South East region.

He said: “We, the Igbo-Biafra nationalists and the Indigenous People of the Igbo Nation for Self-Determination, have an urgent message for the political leaders of the South-East: you must stop self-pity and help Nigeria continue to enslave Igbo people, embrace our proposal to deliver a responsible and accountable government or face dire consequences.”

He urged them to take decisive action by advocating for the creation of more state(s) within the South-East, which will ensure fairer representation and resource allocation and utilise the revenue allocation and internally generated revenue (IGR) to develop our region.

The convener also urged the leaders of the region to prioritise the payment of workers’ salaries, the payment of pensions, and securing the lives and properties of their people, which would make them committed to calling out the discriminatory policies imposed by the Nigerian state against the South-East and its inhabitants.

He said, ‘We urge you to mount pressure on and persuade the Nigerian government to exert maximum diplomatic pressure on Finland, including the severing of diplomatic ties, to address the issue of one Simon Ekpa, whose gangs (ESN=UNKNOWNGUMEN=AUTOPILOT=BRGIE=IPONK-IPOB) are mercilessly slaughtering innocent Igbo Biafran sons and daughters in cold blood and in peacetime.”

The body demanded that the leaders persuade the Nigerian government to exert maximum diplomatic pressure on Finland, including the possibility of severing diplomatic ties due to their harbouring of one Simon Ekpa, whose gangs from the IPONK-IPOB are responsible for the brutal slaughter of innocent Igbo Biafran civilians.

He said: “If Ekpa and his cohorts possess the firepower, they should engage legitimate military targets, not innocent civilians.”

They called upon the Nigerian security forces to cease their indiscriminate targeting and mass killings of the Igbo civilian population in the guise of pursuing or in response to confrontations with the criminal elements from the Eastern Security Network (ESN), Unknown Gunmen, Autopilot, and BRGIE, who are the factions of IPOB-IPONK.

He said: “It is critical that the response of the security forces be proportionate and just, ensuring the safety and security of innocent civilians in the South-East.”
