A humanitarian organisation, Atum Humanitarian and Charitable Initiative (AHACI), has urged governments at all levels, corporate organisations, philanthropists, and business leaders to prioritise sustainable empowerment projects aimed at lifting millions out of poverty in 2025.
AHACI highlighted the ripple effects of poverty and unemployment, particularly their connection to crime and insecurity. The organisation emphasised that 2025 demands targeted actions, initiatives, and meaningful engagements to create lasting positive impacts on citizens’ lives.
In a New Year message delivered by AHACI’s Executive Chairman, Hon. Ismaila Yusuf Atus, the organisation stressed the importance of building a strong support network to address not only the symptoms but also the root causes of poverty and unemployment.
The message reads in part, “I welcome you to an exciting 2025! As we start this new year, let’s think about how far we’ve come and what we can do together.
“Last year, we saw how strong Nigerians can be. Despite the difficult economic situation, we came together, helping each other through tough times. This shows us that when we unite, we can overcome any challenge.
“In 2025, we have some important work to do. Our ₦500 million fund is here to help two million Nigerians who need it most. This money will support families, give children a chance to go to school and help our local communities grow.
“This year is special because we have a chance to work together more than ever. If the government, through the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, NGOs, and businesses join hands, we can create a strong network of support. This means not only helping people now but also fixing the problems that cause poverty and hardship.
“Each of us has a part to play. Whether you’re a political leader, a business owner, or just someone who cares, your help is important. Together, we can make sure everyone gets a chance to succeed.
“As we welcome 2025, let’s stay hopeful and determined. We can build a Nigeria where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and where we turn challenges into chances for a better life.
“Let’s celebrate this new year by committing to help our fellow Nigerians and making our country a better place for all.”
