Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio; Oyo Governor, Seyi Makinde and his Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Mohammed are expected to grace the 23rd National Women Conference taking place in Lagos, while Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will be the Mother of the Day and Special Guest of Honour.
The conference, a three-day event scheduled to hold between 17th and 19th October, 2023 themed: “Unleash Your Potentials,” is being organized by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO).

The Lagos State First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, who is also Chairman of COWLSO, made the disclosure on Thursday at Alausa, Ikeja during a press briefing, saying that the Convention will take place at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos with at least 5,000 participants expected to attend.
Dr. Sanwo-Olu said the conference stands as a beacon of opportunity for each of participants to tap into women’s limitless capabilities “as we navigate our world which thrives on diversity and equality.”
According to her, the theme, “Unleash Your Potential,” encapsulates women’s collective aspiration to break free from the numerous constraints, barriers and limitations, while reaching for newer and greater heights.
“The NWC conference stands as a beacon of opportunity for each of us to tap into our limitless capabilities as we navigate our world which thrives on diversity and equality.
“The theme, ‘Unleash Your Potential,’ encapsulates our collective aspiration to break free from the numerous constraints, barriers and limitations while reaching for newer and greater heights,” she said.
This was just as the COWLSO chairperson disclosed that conference will witness members getting together in Funday activities tagged: “Throwback extravaganza,” saying the activities would be reminiscence of their youthful days, while an awareness walk will take place in EPE on Saturday 7th October 2023.
“The COWLSO NWC, as we know, has earned a remarkable reputation and assumed the status of a purpose-driven international conference through which women are positively galvanized.
“I am, therefore, excited to announce that all is set for the 23rd NWC of COWLSO.
“During the first four years of the last administration, COWLSO dealt extensively with themes that assisted women to transform from who they were to better and more productive women in society.
“In 2023, we are urging participants to take bold steps, face their fears, and push past their comfort zones and when they do, they can ‘Unleash their Potential’ and discover what they are truly capable of achieving,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
Speaking further, Dr. Sanwo-Olu listed sub-themes of the conference to include: “Homestead Farming: A Positive Step Towards Sustainable National Food Security,” “Making Eco-Friendly Choices for sustainable Development,” “Unleashing Potential through Healthy Choices,” “Challenges of Out-of-Pocket payment: The role of health insurance,” “Education: A catalyst to socio-economic development,” amongst others.
She assured that adequate preparations had been made to ensure that intensive plenary sessions were done to extensively deliberate on the highlighted topics and associated issues.
Earlier, the Chairperson of 2023 NWC Planning Committee, Prof. Olufunke Adeyeye, expressed the belief that the conference would bring to participants an opportunity to foster a lasting collaboration and create a symphony of ideas that would bring out the best in them.
“It is my hope that this conference will bring to our participants an opportunity to foster a lasting collaboration and create a symphony of ideas that will bring out the best in them.
“I believe that through our shared experiences, we will be able to encourage, uplift, and celebrate each other’s achievements no matter how big or small. This is one conference you cannot afford to miss,” she said.
