MEMBERS of the Old Students Association of the School of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Afikpo (OSSAISA) have extended a helping hand to victims of the recent floods in Borno State.
The association, under the leadership of Malam Ibrahim Tayyib, the National Amir, donated relief materials, including cash, food items and other essential supplies, to the displaced persons.
Tayyib, represented by Malam Ibrahim Buba Muhammad, a fellow alumnus and member of OSSAISA, sympathised with the victims and described the disaster as a test from Allah.
He said, “To Allah alone belong the dominion of the Heavens and the Earth. He does that which He wishes. None can query Allah’s will, and when He decides of an affair, so shall it be.”
The OSSAISA national amir appealed to the people of Galtimari Bakin Koji community to manage the foodstuff the association could afford and pray to Allah to grant the group the strength to do more.
“The funds for the relief effort were raised through contributions from members of OSSAISA and other generous Nigerians. The group extends sincere gratitude to all donors for their kind contributions.
“We also appreciate the efforts of other organisations that have provided assistance for the flood victims in Borno State,” Tayyib said.

According to him, OSSAISA remains committed to humanitarian causes and will continue to play its part in alleviating suffering and promoting the well-being of others.
The floods in Borno State, particularly in Maiduguri, have caused widespread devastation, submerging homes, offices and infrastructure.
One of the imams in the Galtimari Bako Koji community, where the items were distributed, Malam Ibrahim Babagana, spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries.
He expressed gratitude for the timely intervention and support and thanked members of OSSAISA for showing brotherhood as taught by Prophet Muhammad.
The flooding, which caused devastation to lives and property, followed the collapse of Alau Dam on 10 September, 2024.
