– Decries His Refusal To Visit Crisis-torn Communities After Five Days
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has queried the state Governor Ademola Adeleke on his refusal to make an on-the-spot inspection tour five days after Ifon-Osun, Ilobu and Erin-Osun communities have become war-torn following a recent communal clash which has claimed many lives, properties and rendered many citizens homeless.
Even when the natives of the affected communities are now gasping for survival by living in a demean condition and becoming ‘refugees’ in neighbouring towns and villages, it is strange that Governor Ademola Adeleke has not deemed it fit to pay a visitation to the affected areas to give confidence and succour to the victims of the avoidable strife.
Even when all hopes were high that Governor Adeleke, according to the government press release, would meet with the traditional rulers of the warring towns to plan how truce could be achieved, we were shocked to the bone marrow that Adeleke bungled the auspicious opportunity of jaw-jawing with the respected monarchs as he shunned the parley for the lavish birthday party he threw for his daughter in far away Lagos, only for one inconsequential Amotekun operative, a retired mid-level police officer, Adekunle Omoyele, to represent him at the meeting.
Governor Adeleke would continue to get things wrong as long as he continues to do the right thing at the wrong time and the wrong thing at the right time as there was no justification for him not to have visited the crisis-ravaged communities for him to know the extent of the destruction of lives and property in the two ancient towns.
It is doubtful if a governor who is yet to know the extent of the damage done to the governed in the affected communities would have the wherewithal to think of how to arrange for relief materials for the homeless victims and those who lost their loved ones.
The shabby handling of the recurrent Ilobu-Ifon-Osun, Erin-Osun communal clash is a manifestation of the lip service Governor Adeleke pays to welfare and security of the citizens.
