
National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, will on 10th April, 2025, be honoured with the prestigious Award of Excellence in Leadership by the Nigerian Economic Society (NES), Osun State Chapter.
Senator Basiru, Chairman, Nigerian Sugar Development Council, Abuja, will be recognised in recognition of his distinguished contributions to governance, policy formulation, and national development.

In an invitation to the Inauguration of the Osun State Chapter of the NES, the organisation hailed the APC National Secretary’s exemplary service as a seasoned lawyer, public administrator, and politician, affirming that his has had a lasting impact on Osun State and Nigeria at large.
“From your tenure as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Osun State to your role as Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, and later as a Senator in the 9th National Assembly, you have continuously championed legal, economic, and developmental reforms that have strengthened governance and regional cooperation.” The letter stated.
NES also said “Now, as Chairman of the Nigerian Sugar Development Council (NSDC), your efforts in formulating policies for the sugar industry’s growth and development are contributing significantly to Nigeria’s economic diversification and self-sufficiency. Your leadership has created opportunities for employment, enhanced economic policies, and strengthened institutions that drive national growth. Your work in governance and industry continues to inspire new generations of leaders and entrepreneurs, making you a well-deserving recipient of this prestigious honor.”
While accepting the nomination of the prestigious Award of Excellence in Leadership by the Nigerian Economic Society (NES), Osun State Chapter, Senator Basiru’s office said it is a testament to his impactful leadership and service to the people.
The APC National Secretary commended the society for its unwavering commitment to promoting economic discourse and development in Nigeria, adding that he looks forward to collaborating with the NES to advance policies and initiatives that will benefit the people of Osun State and Nigeria at large.
The event will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Olagunsoye Oyinlola Hall, Osun State University, Osogbo.
