The All Progressives Congress (APC) Rivers State leadership has issued a robust response to criticisms leveled against the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, APC, and the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by a group of Atiku/PDP supporters in Rivers State.

In a press conference held yesterday, the group, identified as unrepentant Atiku/PDP loyalists, launched scathing attacks against the APC leadership, prompting a swift rebuttal from the APC Rivers State.

Describing the criticisms as a “cul-de-sac machinated by defeated politicians,” the APC expressed concern over the potential distortion of facts if left unchallenged. The group highlighted the ties of the presenters to Atiku’s 2023 presidential campaign, suggesting a bias in their narrative.

The APC condemned what they termed as “unguided spews” from the Atiku/PDP supporters, accusing them of harboring resentment towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC due to their electoral defeat. The group alleged that the critics were surreptitiously targeting the Honourable Minister of FCT, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, in their attempts to undermine the APC’s influence.

Addressing the political crisis in Rivers State, the APC reiterated its stance that the issues were self-inflicted within the PDP. They criticized the protesters for attempting to link Minister Wike to the fray, emphasizing that the crisis stemmed from intra-party conflicts and governance failures.

Furthermore, the APC challenged the credibility of the protesters, questioning their motives and past actions, including funding hate speeches against APC members and spreading false narratives about President Tinubu’s health.

The APC also called into question the legitimacy of the protesters’ claims and their standing as representatives of Rivers State people, dismissing their document as a “tripe” signed by individuals lacking authority.

In conclusion, the APC urged the critics to pursue proper channels for expressing their grievances and denounced their tactics of “braw-beating and blackmailing.” The party reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the truth and defending its members against unfounded attacks.

Chief Tony C Okocha, KSC DSSRS JP, Chairman of APC Rivers State, signed off the response.
