The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the September 21, 2014, governorship election in Edo, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has appealed to the traders at the Evbareke and Uwelu Spare Parts Market in Egor Local Government Area of the state to vote for the APC in the September 21st governorship election.
Okpebholo made the appeal at Evbareke and Uwelu Spare Parts Market during the party’s Ward to Ward campaign in the local government area.
The governorship candidate said he would ensure that the road leading to the market is tared to make it accessible without difficulty.
According to him, “I will make sure I tare this road immediately I assume office as the governor of Edo State. I know fully well that the spare parts market contribute to the Economy of the state greatly”.
The APC gubernatorial candidate promised to provide dividend of democracy to Edo State if given the mandate.
Also in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, Okpebholo promised to revive the Bendel Brewery and ensure Ikpoba Okha youths were fully employed.
‘We will employ 500 teachers within 100 days in office as well provide pipe borne water. There will be mechanised farming, as Women will be given soft loan and 35% quota will be allocated to them in my cabinet,” Okpebholo assured.
On his part, the Director General of APC, Campaign Council, Matthew Urhokhide, appealed to the people to vote for APC on the election day.
Urhokhide said both Edo North and Central had agreed with the Esan agenda, hence their choice of Senator Okpebholo as their candidate.
He said he believed in Monday Okpebholo as a good candidate who would listen to the yearning of the people.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole on his part called on members of the APC and its supporters to be vigilant and brace up for emerging threats against peaceful and credible conduct of Edo State gubernatorial election billed for September 21, 2024.
Oshiomhole alleged that there was an attempt by a certain woman who was caught with packs of Permanent voter cards (PVCs) in Ovia Federal Constituency and voter suppression linked to the ongoing PVC collection in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the State.
Oshiomhole, who raised the alarm at the governorship rally, asked Governor Godwin Obaseki and the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the election, Mr Asue Ighodalo, to bury the act stating that the thought of rigging would not happen.
“Don’t dance too much and allow them to compromise electoral process by stealing PVCs and denying you the opportunity to vote. We will defend those rights. We will do so peacefully in a civilized manner.
“Now, what is at stake in this election is much more than you can easily understand”, Oshiomhole stated.
He also assured that the APC-led government would make Edo Specialist Hospital accessible to all residents in the state if Senator Okpebholo won the September 21st governorship poll.
The multi-billion 120-bed capacity which was built during his second tenure as governor and inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari, was privatised by his successor, Governor Obaseki-led government, which also demolished the Central Hospital Complex and allocated the land for the proposed Museum for West Africa Arts (MOWAA), project.
Oshiomhole assured that the next government would carry out a comprehensive audit on the privatisation of the hospital administration, as well as ensure that the culprits behind the alleged fraudulent deal that made healthcare inaccessible only to the rich were prosecuted.
This was just as he accused Governor Obaseki of deploying consultants without the knowledge of the hospital management to run the specialist hospital solely for purpose of revenue generation.
A chieftain of the party, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who led members of the party and supporters in a brief moment of worship, lamented the failed promises of PDP in the state and assured that Okpebholo would deliver on his promises.
