Four hundred and seventy-five paramilitary personnel and policemen have graduated from the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration, Apapa Lagos.
According to the Commandant of he Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration(NASFA); Brigadier General Julius Osifo, the school was founded “To provide academic training in Financial, administrative and military duties for officers and soldiers in the Nigerian Armed forces, Nigerian Police Force and other paramilitary organisations”.
Major General AA Fayemiwo Chief of Accounts and Budgets(Army), who is also the Chairman of the school’s Governing Board was the Special Guest of Honour at the graduation ceremony.
The convocation ceremony featured the award of Higher National Diplomas and prizes for ex-students of Years 2016/2017-2022/23.
In his welcoming remarks, the commandant Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration(NASFA); Brigadier General Julius Osifo, said; “NASFA, which is the training arm of the Finance Corps has produced 2,599 graduates of National Diploma and 1,943 of Higher National Diploma (HND) including personnels from sisters services”.
He added that the school also trains personnel of the Nigerian Police Force, and other security agencies like Nigerian Correctional Services, National Immigration Services, National Security and Civil Defence Corps amongst others.
He revealed that NASFA is aimed at sustaining the standard of academic excellence and capacity development for the Nigerian Army, other members of the Armed Forces, the Nigerian Police Force and Paramilitary agencies.
He also added that NASFA carrys out training activities in line with the Nigerian Army training directive and in accordance with the standards prescribed by relevant statutory bodies.
He stressed that graduates of NASFA always distinguished themselves as several have attained the peak of their career such as Major General Lartey and PA Toun now retired, who both commanded the Nigerian Army Finance Corps at various times. He also acknowledged the Guest Lecturer as an ex-student of the School.
Brigadier General Osifo explained that the school also has the Military and Services Accounts department which trains personnel in various upgrading courses like the Clerk General Duties, Records Clerks and Finance upgrading courses likewise career courses for Nigerian Army Finance Corps Officers.
General Osifo revealed that since his resumption as NASFA commandant in January his command philosophy has been hinged on leveraging the massive infrastructural improvements, exploring all ways and means to ensure NASFA becomes the very best monotechnic in the country.
He added that there have been massive improvements in infrastructural uplift accompanied by appreciable improvements in the curriculum of all the courses, enhancements in the process of teaching and learning as well as administrative processes.
