THE audacity of hope for the possibility of realising economic salvation had become displaced, replaced with frustration and the loss of positive expectations. By no stretch of the imagination would anyone fail to recognise the obvious adversity faced by millions of Nigerian youths, who are the primary victims of these economic assaults and policy scams. It is true that these young Nigerians are the most trapped and tormented in the face of this trend due to their conventional strength of falling apart with ease, thus becoming victims of their own choices. However, it is the dawn of a new day for them. A reality for the Nigerian nation, devoid of unemployment, economic shocks, and a divided class structure among her citizenry, seems not to be far off, as a lobby group with the goal of partnering with public and private organisations to address joblessness and indolence, The Society For The Welfare Of Unemployed Youth Of Nigeria (SWUYN), has recently gained recognition for its competence in youth engagement outcomes.

While it can be noted that there are many youth advocacy groups in Nigeria with shared objectives and goals, the excellence of national interest or the rare providence of a body being driven by both the minority and majority is a limitation for comparison. The Society For The Welfare Of Unemployed Youth of Nigeria stands unmatched in its core value of striving to advance and promote the cause of Nigerian youth, regardless of their language, roots, or religious affiliations. This has been consolidated by reshaping the thoughts and beliefs of young people who previously seemed disconnected from the government. They believe that for growth to occur, it is necessary to mindfully cooperate with public officials to fix the nation’s challenges through constructive opinions and the promotion of optimism.

The positive initiatives of the Society For The Welfare Of Unemployed Youth Of Nigeria are truly unique in their operation, having drawn the attention of stakeholders and influencers in both the public and private sectors. It is now very common that, as days progress, the youth advocacy group receives support and accolades from numerous individuals who have seamlessly acknowledged the positive impact the group is making, as well as the gaps it is helping the Nigerian government fill in a more constructive manner.

In no less than three weeks, The Society For The Welfare Of Unemployed Youth Of Nigeria, upon invitation, participated in a grand ceremony specifically held to mark the unveiling of The Youth Activity Dashboard, hosted by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development in FCT-Abuja. This event demonstrated that the group’s impact is widely recognised, particularly by those who understand the importance of youth policy and the potential harm its inadequacy poses. The latest fashion on the show glass of the youth advocacy group is the Senator representing Delta North District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Reparation and Repatriation, Dr. Ned Nwoko. Recently, he has offered to collaborate significantly on empowering young people and eradicating youth economic disengagement, which is prevalent in our society. This task is one the youth advocacy group has embraced and will once again pioneer with enterprising efforts, as is its tradition.

The youth populace will soon become innovators, career leaders, and change agents if the exceptional youth advocacy group continues to receive the necessary support and solidarity from both public and private organizations, enabling it to remain energized in its mission. Indeed, the Society For The Welfare Of Unemployed Youth Of Nigeria serves as a beacon of hope.
