As part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Management of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, has significantly reduced the cost of procedure from N40,000 to an affordable N12,000 per session, offering relief to patients grappling with kidney-related ailments.

The development is a bold step taken by ATBUTH to address the financial challenges faced by patients requiring kidney dialysis on a daily basis.

In a conversation with the Public Relations Unit of the Hospital, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Yusuf Bara Jibrin, expressed optimism about the programme.

He revealed that the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare had not only ensured the availability of consumables in large quantities but also provided a new dialysis machine to support the hospital’s efforts.

“This initiative showcases the government’s commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to all, especially during these trying times,” Yusuf Bara Jibrin remarked.

According to him, “Over 45 beneficiaries have already accessed the subsidized services, with many expressing profound gratitude for the intervention.”

The initiative is expected to significantly reduce the financial strain on families and improve the overall health outcomes for patients.

By equipping the hospital with the necessary resources, ATBUTH is poised to deliver uninterrupted services to a growing number of patients from Bauchi and neighbouring states.

The CMD further emphasized that this initiative aligns with the hospital’s mission of providing affordable and high-quality healthcare while strengthening public trust in the healthcare system.

He assured the public that ATBUTH will continue to collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to sustain and expand similar programs for the benefit of all citizens.

One of the patients shared, “This programme has brought hope to many of us who could not afford treatment before. It is truly life-changing,” as contained in a statement by Usman Abdullahi Koli, Head, Public Relations Unit, ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi.
