Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has declared that he would prefer living in “poor” Nigeria to “rich” Britain while responding to UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Kemi Badenoch, over her comments about Nigeria’s governance and societal challenges.
Fani-Kayode reacted to Badenoch’s claim that her wealthy family became poorer in Nigeria due to bad governance by asserting, “I would rather live in ‘poor’ Nigeria than in ‘rich’ Britain.”
Taking to his official X account, the former minister lambasted the UK, accusing it of embracing values that he claimed erode societal norms.
He stated, “In ‘rich’ Britain, men marry men, women marry women, transgenders are empowered, and gender is eroded, while children are gang-raped, and politicians are pedophiles.
He wrote, ”I would rather live in “poor” Nigeria than in “rich” Britain where men marry men, women marry women, homosexuality and bisexuality is encouraged, paedophilia is celebrated, transgenders are empowered, bestiality is tolerated, gender is eroded, perverts, deviants and child predators hold sway, children are gang-raped and politicians are pedophiles.”
Fani-Kayode also criticized the UK for alleged racial discrimination, arguing that Black, Arab, and South Asian communities are treated with disdain.
He further alleged that Christians and Muslims face marginalisation, claiming, “In ‘rich’ Britain, churches are empty, mosques are bombed, and people of color are regarded as filth.

He wrote, ”I would rather live in “poor” Nigeria than “rich” Britain where Christians are derided, Muslims are hated, churches are empty, mosques are bombed, blacks are treated like filth, Arabs are seen as scum and Indians and Pakistanis are regarded as garbage. ”
The former minister directed harsh words at Badenoch, calling her a “self-hating Aunty Jemima” who demeans Nigeria to gain political favor. He accused her of disowning her heritage and pandering to white supremacists.
“Nigeria may be poor,” Fani-Kayode said, “but at least we hold onto our Christian and Muslim values, know God, and resist the moral decay prevalent in ‘rich’ Britain.”
Concluding, Fani-Kayode urged Nigeria to declare Badenoch persona non grata, arguing that her views insult the nation’s dignity. He emphasized that despite its challenges, Nigeria remains anchored in cultural and religious principles.
He wrote, ”Nigeria may be poor but at least we are not subject to all these vices and afflictions: at least we hold fast to our Christian and Muslim values, we know God and we will not burn in hell for eternity for trying to replace Him with our accursed arrogance, insolence, pride and vanity and our insatiable love and celebration of wealth and power.”
