In an effort to fight poverty and improve savings among the rural populace in the state, Bauchi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a non-governmental organisation (NGO), CARE Nigeria.
The MoU was signed by the state government through the State Agency for Sustainable Micro Finance by the Commissioner of Cooperative and SMEs Development, Hon Mohammed Sadeeq Hamisu Shira.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Commissioner said that the vision and mission of CARE Nigeria, which is targeted at strengthening the capacity of the vulnerable in society and improving the saving capacity of the rural populace.
He stressed that these, among others, are in tandem with the Governor Bala Mohammed-led administration’s blueprint and pledged the effective implementation of the MoU for the good of the people.
In his remarks, representative of the Country Director, CARE Nigeria, Faiza Muntaka, said that the organisation is out to work with civil society organisations and the state government in reaching out to the targeted beneficiaries, which will in turn change their lives financially.
She commended the Bauchi State Government for the partnership.
The Office of the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Bauchi State Ministry of Justice, Budget, Economic Planning and Multilateral Coordination, among others, presented goodwill messages at the ceremony.
The Director-General, Bauchi State Agency for Sustainable Micro Finance, Dr Nura Dan Madami, said that the MoU marked another significant progress in the agency’s continuous collaboration with relevant stakeholders to reduce to the barest minimum rates of poverty at the grassroots for sustainable growth and development.
