The Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam has charged the newly-commissioned 462 cadets of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF to be dedicated, effective, and professional in discharging their duty to the nation to enhance efficient police service delivery to the citizens

This was contained in a statement made available to news men in Abuja on Sunday by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Alhaji Bolaji O Kareem

According to the statement, the Minister stated this while speaking made the statement at the passing out parade ceremony of the 6th Regular Course 6 2018 Cadets (462), reviewed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, at the Academy Parade Ground, Police College, Wudil, Kano State.

The Minister said that after completing five years of rigorous academy and professional training from the college, Nigerians expected them to add value to the police ecosystem and be fair and accountable in discharging their duties.

It stated that the Minister urged them to reflect on the journey that had brought them to this point adding that the training received had prepared them for the challenges ahead.

It added that Gaidam stressed that it was their character and integrity that would define their careers.

According to him,“It is indeed a privilege to serve Nigeria and work towards the noble goal of ensuring the safety and security of our citizens. Undoubtedly, there is still much work to be done. You should be fully aware of the challenges that lie ahead, and acknowledge the complexities associated with policing.

” However, you should be resolute in your commitment to bring about lasting change”. The Minister stressed.
According to him, “Community engagement and trust building should be your focus.

” You must be actively involved in the communities you serve, fostering a sense of cooperation and partnership. By enhancing coordination between Federal, State, and local law enforcement, we can create a unified front against crime and ensure a more effective response”.

Gaidam pointed out that currently, the Ministry of Police Affairs was spearheading policy reforms and administrative initiatives aimed at bolstering the operational efficiency of the NPF and improving welfare and morale.

According to him, “The ongoing initiatives include engaging multiple stakeholders through town hall meetings and reinforcing the Police Community Relations Committee to bolster efforts in enhancing community safety.

He commended the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and his management team as well as the Commandant for their unwavering dedication and commitment to shaping the future leaders of our Police Force.
The Minister noted their commitment to duties and charged them to continue building community partnerships, deepen citizens’ participation in policing arrangements, and position the Nigeria police to play a critical role in achieving the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Ahmed Asiwaju Tinubu-led administration.
