The Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, Hassan Yabanet, on Tuesday, paraded two suspected fraudsters who operated a fraud academy in the capital city, Makurdi and 33 others arrested for various offences across the state.
Yabanet said that acting on information, the command dispatched a detachment of detectives to the location of the fraud academy at Jerome Hwande Street, Ankpa Quarters, Makurdi.
According to the police boss, detectives were detailed to investigate the case.
He said, “On 14/5/2024 at about 0600hrs, the following suspects were arrested at the house; one Terpase Luke Denmodi ‘m’ 23yrs and Avalumun Ayangekaa Dominic ‘m’ 24yrs.”
He listed items recovered from the suspects to include; seven HP laptops, one Apple note, one Cannon printer, 15 notes of Ghana cedis, two international passports, and assorted clothes among others.

The police boss added that the investigation revealed that some of the suspected internet fraudsters who have many social handles on their phone, used them to defraud people of their money.
Among the suspects arrested and paraded were; kidnappers, cultists and armed robbers
The police commissioner however warned landlords and hoteliers to be mindful of the kind of people they accommodate, saying that they are also at risk of becoming victims and can be prosecuted for criminal conspiracy.
