As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, BUA Cement, one of Africa’s leading cement manufacturers, has donated medical consumables worth N35 million to 16 host communities in Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

During the official handover of the medical supplies, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BUA Cement, Yusuf Binji, represented by the Director of Administration and Corporate Services, Sada Suleiman, emphasised that the initiative aims to ensure that hospitals and clinics in the host communities have an adequate supply of essential drugs.

Binji noted that this donation is an annual initiative, reaffirming BUA Cement’s commitment to the well-being of its host communities. He highlighted the company’s broader CSR efforts, which include scholarship programmes, provision of potable water, and the construction of mosques to support local development.

“What you are witnessing today is our way of giving back to the communities that have supported us,” Binji stated.

He further revealed that seven solar-powered boreholes have been completed across the state and will soon be commissioned. Additionally, BUA Cement has provided full school uniforms to pupils in five primary schools within the host communities.

Binji expressed gratitude to Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu for his unwavering support and guidance. He assured that BUA Cement will continue to complement the state government’s efforts in enhancing the lives of its citizens.

He also emphasised that the donated drugs are meant to be distributed free of charge, particularly for the benefit of women and children, and should not be sold under any circumstances.

In his remarks, Chairman of Wamakko Local Government, Alhaji Umaru Ahmad, represented by Director of Health Services, Umar Sani Tureta, commended BUA Cement for its generosity. He urged other companies operating in Sokoto State to follow suit in supporting community development.

Ahmad assured the company that the medical supplies would be properly distributed to the benefiting communities, ensuring they reach those in need.
