Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the new commissioner of police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Friday, visited Bwari/Ushafa communities, in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
During the visit to communities often in the news for the wrong reasons of banditry and kidnapping, Disu held extensive discussions with traditional rulers, youth groups, and community members, listening to their concerns and reaffirming the police force’s dedication to swift and professional responses to any emerging threats.
In a statement issued to newsmen on Friday, in Abuja by FCT police command spokesperson, CP Disu was quoted as saying: “In a proactive move to reinforce security and build community trust, the newly posted Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc, on Friday 11th October 2024, visited the Bwari/Ushafa Communities to assess the current security situation and evaluate the effectiveness of ongoing security deployments in the area.
“The visit is part of the Command’s commitment to ensuring that all parts of the FCT enjoy peace and security, especially in communities like Bwari that have witnessed security challenges in recent times. During his engagement, CP Disu held extensive discussions with traditional rulers, youth groups, and community members, listening to their concerns and reaffirming the police force’s dedication to swift and professional responses to any emerging threats.
“The Commissioner emphasized the importance of collaboration between the police and residents, encouraging community members to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious activities. He assured that the Command has already strengthened its deployments in key areas within the Bwari axis, with a special focus on intelligence-driven operations and rapid response units. He reiterated that the FCT Command will leave no stone unturned in tackling crime and ensuring that Bwari, like all communities within the FCT, remains a safe and secure environment for residents and businesses alike.
