A Civil Society Organisation, Naija Connect, has disclosed that plans have been concluded to organize a 10-day ‘sit out’ program in Abuja to encourage people to channel their energies into constructive nation-building projects.

The Naija Connect Convener, Iretidola Ojekhoa, stated at a press conference in Abuja that Nigerians are dissatisfied with many aspects of the economy, security, food supply, inflation, exchange rates, and the high cost of transportation due to high pump prices.

However, she mentioned that Nigerians do not have a common platform to project their voices and concerns.

According to her: “There are questions to be answered, such as: What do people want the government to do? How do they envision solutions to the problems? What will be the people’s role in making these solutions a reality? And similar questions.”

“To answer these questions, it has become necessary to encourage people to channel their energies into constructive nation-building projects.”

“This project aims to build a bridge between the people and the government. It will serve as a platform that acts as a bridge between the government and the governed.”

Ojekhoa further explained that the sit-out is open to the public and will provide people with the opportunity to identify the problems they face as Nigerians, to give them hope, courage, and the resources to identify answers to these problems, so that the people can determine what they want and how it can be done differently from the past.

She also reiterated that the Naija Connect project and the planned sit-out are non-political, non-religious, and cater to no ethnic persuasion. The #NigeriaforNigerians project aims to bring together progressive minds and patriotic Nigerians for the good of the nation.

“We refuse to accept the status quo. As Nigerians, we will come together, make our voices heard on solutions to problems that can lead to better nation-building.”

Also, the Chief Mobilization Officer of Naija Connect, Queen Zara Oyinye, assured that whatever ideas are generated from the sit-out, they will ensure that they reach the right channels. She emphasized that often, after all the advocacy, people find it difficult to ensure their ideas reach the appropriate channels.

“What makes this project different is that because we are involved, we are part of the system, and we will ensure that things are done the way they should be. We will take these ideas to the right places so that action can be taken based on the resolutions we reach at the end of the project.” She added.
