Hon. Leke Abejide, the lawmaker representing Yagba Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Customs and Excise, has clarified that the slip generated during the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) recruitment process does not guarantee automatic qualification.

He urged applicants to prepare for further stages, including examinations and medical screenings, as part of the recruitment process.

In a statement issued on Wednesday to the 360 Federal Constituencies, Abejide emphasized the need for public enlightenment following widespread misconceptions about the generated application slip.

“I am compelled to issue this statement to further enlighten Nigerians on the requirements for the proposed Nigeria Customs Service recruitment,” he stated. “This is due to the pressure I have received from individuals, both known and unknown, seeking clarification on whether the generated slip is all that is needed for recruitment. It is not. Applicants must still undergo examinations, fitness tests, and medical screenings.”

Abejide noted that the recruitment process is multi-staged, and the generated slip is merely an acknowledgment of an applicant’s intent to participate.

“The process is not a one-step affair,” he explained. “Your application only indicates your intention to participate in the recruitment process. Examinations will still be conducted, and those who pass will be invited for further screenings. Once the modalities are finalized, the NCS management will announce the next steps, and I will ensure the information is widely disseminated for all Nigerians to benefit.”

He further cautioned applicants against assuming that the generated slip signifies automatic qualification. “At this stage, nothing has been agreed upon regarding the modalities. Please note that the application process and the generated slip are simply evidence of your intention, not proof of automatic recruitment,” Abejide clarified.

The lawmaker’s statement aims to ensure applicants are fully informed about the rigorous steps involved in the NCS recruitment process, preventing unwarranted assumptions and misunderstandings.
