The political atmosphere in Ijesa North Federal Constituency has again witnessed a dramatic shift as the Women Leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ward 08, Mrs. Abubakar Hadiza, officially resigned from the party. Her defection marks another wave of political realignment in the constituency.

In a letter addressed to the party leadership, Mrs. Hadiza cited loyalty and alignment with her long-standing political mentor, Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke, as the key reasons for her decision. She emphasized that her resignation from the PDP was a personal and strategic move aimed at showing solidarity with the House of Representatives member representing the constituency.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to step down from my position and membership of the PDP in total support of Hon. Oluwole Oke,” the letter read in part. Her decision has sparked discussions across political circles, as observers consider it a boost to Hon. Oke’s growing political influence within the constituency.

The defection comes amid growing tensions and internal restructuring within the PDP in Ijesa North, raising questions about the party’s strength ahead of the next political cycle. Political analysts believe Hadiza’s move may inspire similar defections as loyalists rally around key figures like Hon. Oke in anticipation of future elections.
