In an unambiguous press statement, the Osun State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal, issued a stern warning to all party stakeholders, members, and aspiring gubernatorial hopefuls regarding the attempts to factionalise and fracture the unity of the party through parochial and sectional agitations which was dated January 25th 2025. Lawal’s statement titled “Don’t Tear Our Party Apart With Scheming For Your Favourite Governorship Aspirants,” serves as an explicit repudiation of the clandestine maneuvers of certain desperate political figures who, devoid of organic popularity and widespread acceptability, have resorted to the divisive antics of regional agitation and sectarian posturing to foist their woefully uninspiring ambitions upon the party.
It is utterly lamentable and intellectually repugnant that a lackluster aspirant whose aspiration is predicated not on merit or electoral viability but on primitive zonal sentiment has once again exhibited his penchant for discord by mobilizing a cabal of conspirators and emissaries to advance a retrogressive agenda. Authoritative reports which is verifiable indicated that a delegation led by Prince Bayo Adeleke Banik who had earlier wrote a laughable and rhetorically deceptive piece titled “My Thoughts – Enough is Enough: A Call for Unity in Osun APC” on Sunday, 26th January was hosted at the Ido-Osun residence of a prominent party leader, with the Osun West Senatorial leader also in attendance. The sinister objective of this clandestine gathering was to perfect the details of a reprehensible scheme designed to agitate a zoning formula in a bid to circumvent democratic principles in favour of a politically rudderless aspiration. This zonal meeting will be held any moment from now.

The APC in Osun today remains a formidable and ideologically disciplined entity, one big family where aspirants are judged solely by their competence, popularity, and capacity to mobilize widespread electoral support, not by nauseating contrivance of sectional favouritism. The gospel of meritocracy has been consistently preached, and it remains the only pathway to securing the party’s ticket to dethrone the PDP in Osun. The party in Osun should be determined to ensure that the APC fields a gubernatorial candidate who possesses both the intellectual dexterity and mass appeal necessary to advance the collective aspirations of the people of Osun. This candidate must be a unifying force, an embodiment of the progressive ideals that form the bedrock of our party and not a zonal lobbyist.
Let it be unequivocally stated that this mischievous attempt to smuggle a weak, uninspiring, and politically handicapped aspirant into the race through sectional manipulation is an act of sabotage against the integrity of the party. It is an aberration, a cancerous affliction that will metastasize into an existential crisis, threatening the very foundation of the party. Any further attempts to foist this devious strategy upon the APC will be met with unrelenting resistance.
Accordingly, we call upon the state executive leadership of the APC to exercise firm and decisive disciplinary measures to curb the excesses of these political mercenaries and ideological kidnappers who seek to hijack the mission and vision of the party for their own selfish ends. The party should not tolerate political opportunists masquerading around sowing the seeds of discord. Furthermore, all right-thinking leaders and members across the various zones must remain vigilant and resolute in rejecting these charlatans whose ultimate agenda is to enslave the political conscience of the party for their own myopic gratification.
