Edo State Peoples Democratic Party has rejected the judgment of the state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, affirming the victory of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
The opposition described the verdict as a miscarriage of justice.

Edo PDP also expressed concern over what they see as a disregard for overwhelming evidence.

In a statement by Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, PDP Chairman in Edo State, stated that it was convinced that the Tribunal had failed to uphold the law in the face of the facts presented.
He said: “We are proceeding to the Court of Appeal with the facts, the law, and the will of the Edo people firmly on our side.
“Having received and studied the Certified True Copy of the judgment, the petitioners are now even more convinced that the tribunal turned the law on its head to protect a rigged process.

“We have studied the CTC of the judgment. This judgment, with due respect to the judges involved, is a travesty.
“However, we are not deterred. We are proceeding to the Court of Appeal with the facts, the law, and the will of the Edo people firmly on our side.”
Recall that INFORMATION NIGERIA had reported that PDP’s petition accused Independence Electoral Commission of rigging the poll in favour of APC by failing to comply with its own guidelines and by collating manipulated results across the state.
According to the petition, the party’s governorship candidate in the 2024 Edo State election, Asue Ighodalo, scored the majority of lawful votes and should have been declared the winner.
