As part of efforts to ensure quality healthcare delivery to the people, the Ekiti state government has approved the construction of a multi-purpose building at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) Ado-Ekiti.

The Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun who disclosed this on Monday said the approval was parts of the decision reached at the State Executive Council Meeting presided over by the governor, Biodun Oyebanji.

He added that the project which would cost N2.3 billion has been awarded to Messrs. Axial Nigeria Limited and expected to be completed within 30 months.

According to him, the administration of governor Oyebanji was determined to ensure the people of the stage have access to quality and affordable healthcare services and that everything possible would be done to achieve this plan.

The commissioner said, “The facility that is expected to be completed in 30 months, will house four wards/wings each with 20 beds to ensure optimal patient care. Additional features include a pharmacy,patients waiting rooms, consulting rooms, lecture/seminar rooms, offices, reception, pay-
points, conference room, medical library and car parks.

” The construction of a state-of-art multipurpose building is one of the many initiatives aimed at
achieving the goal of providing top-notch healthcare services to residents of the State.”

Also, he disclosed that the government approved the purchase and installation of furnitures and other equipment for the state airport towards ensuring the successful take off of the project.

Olatunbosun said that a sum of N416.8 million was approved for the procurement, ” to enhance the comfort and convenience of both passengers and officials of the Airport.”

” The furniture items and other fittings includes Reception desks, office chairs, office tables, sofas, file cabinets, book shelves, restaurant tables, crowd control stanchions, executive and office swivel chairs, double bunk beds, push up machine, thread mill, cycle ergometer, patient bed with side drawers, coat hangers, day/night blinds for offices and toilets, logo applications, rechargeable standing fans, television sets, (PVR) DSTV decoders among other items, to be placed at various offices and halls at the Airport.

” D&T Furniture was recommended as the preferred and most responsive vendor and was subsequently awarded the contract expected to be completed within three 3 weeks,” he said.
